Classic & Collector
Vehicle Transport
Enclosed transportation for collector purchases and restoration moves, planned around the vehicle’s condition, clearance and handoff requirements.
CONFIDENCE IN EVERY MILE
Plan the Move Around the Car, Not Just Its Age
A finished show car, a well-preserved original and a restoration project can need very different transport arrangements. Elevation Transport Services coordinates enclosed shipping for classic and collector vehicles throughout the continental United States, reviewing how the vehicle can be loaded, who will release it and what the receiving location can accommodate.
This service is for owners, collectors and purchasers who need to move a vehicle between a seller, restoration shop, storage location or private collection. For a broader comparison of trailer protection and service options, visit our Enclosed Auto Transport page.
Collector Purchases & Collection Moves
Before pickup, confirm that the seller or facility has authorized release, the keys are available and a representative can take part in the condition inspection. Share any auction collection hours, storage deadlines or appointment requirements before a carrier is arranged.
For a private collection or seasonal storage move, identify a receiving contact and a suitable unloading location. A vehicle stored behind other cars, inside a low garage or on a restricted property needs an access plan before the truck arrives.
Restoration-Shop Transfers
A restoration project must be described in its current condition, not the condition it is expected to be in when finished. Tell us about missing components, loose panels, steering or brake issues, flat tires and whether the vehicle starts and moves under its own power.
For newly completed work, ask the restoration shop for any handling restrictions and send those instructions before dispatch. Loose spare parts, removed bodywork and tools are not automatically included with the vehicle shipment; discuss them separately before loading.
Loading Details to Review Before Dispatch
- Clearance and modifications: disclose a low front valance, long overhangs, side exhausts, altered suspension or other features that affect loading.
- Operating condition: confirm whether the car starts, rolls, steers and brakes, and whether its keys and any special operating instructions are available.
- Equipment requirements: explain any requested liftgate or other specialized loading arrangement. Availability must be confirmed for the assigned carrier; do not assume every enclosed trailer is equipped the same way.
- Existing condition: photograph the exterior and any areas of concern before pickup, and make sure the releasing representative can review the pickup condition record.
A non-running collector car may be eligible after a loading review. See our Non-Running Vehicle Transport service for the information needed to evaluate that move.
What Goes Into Your Quote
The route, enclosed equipment, vehicle size and condition, requested timing and access at both ends all need to be reviewed. Send the year, make and model; pickup and delivery ZIP codes; current photos; and the earliest date the vehicle will actually be ready.
Tell us about the vehicle’s value and any insurance-documentation questions before confirming transport. Review the applicable carrier coverage, limits and exclusions rather than assuming every potential loss is covered.
Plan the Handoff at Both Ends
Provide a contact who is authorized to release the car and another who can accept it. If either location has limited hours, narrow roads, gates or insufficient room for a transporter, discuss an accessible meeting point in advance.
Pickup and delivery dates are estimates. Share an event or shop deadline early, but keep a contingency plan rather than treating an estimated truck arrival as a guaranteed appointment. At delivery, compare the vehicle with its pickup record and document any new concern on the delivery paperwork.
Classic & Collector Transport Questions
Does an older car automatically need special loading equipment?
No. The loading review depends on its actual clearance, dimensions, modifications and operating condition. Age alone does not determine which trailer or loading arrangement will fit.
Can you collect a car from a private seller or restoration shop?
Yes, subject to release authorization, suitable access and available transport equipment. Send the location’s hours, contact details and handling requirements before scheduling. For purchase coordination, also review our online vehicle purchase and sale shipping service.
Is a mechanical inspection included in transportation?
No. A transport condition record is not a mechanical inspection or an appraisal. Arrange any purchase inspection separately and share transport-relevant findings with us.
Discuss Your Collector Vehicle Move
