Non-Running
Vehicle Transport
Tell us what the vehicle can and cannot do so its condition, loading access and equipment needs can be reviewed.
CONFIDENCE IN EVERY MILE
Not Starting Is Only One Part of the Condition Review
A vehicle that will not start is different from one with locked wheels, damaged steering or missing components. Elevation Transport Services reviews non-running car, SUV and pickup-truck shipments within the continental United States before coordinating an appropriate carrier and loading arrangement.
Some inoperable vehicles can be transported, but acceptance is not automatic. The vehicle’s rolling, steering and braking condition, available keys, damage and pickup access must be disclosed first. When you are unsure of a detail, say so and obtain confirmation from the seller, storage location or repair facility.
This is planned vehicle transportation, not an emergency roadside-response service. Recovery from an inaccessible location or mechanical work is not assumed to be included.
Confirm How the Vehicle Moves
- Rolling: can all wheels rotate, and are the tires inflated and intact?
- Steering: can the wheels be steered, and is the steering unlocked?
- Braking: what braking functions are available, and are any wheels or brakes seized?
- Transmission and keys: are the correct keys available, and can the vehicle be placed in the required transport condition?
- Current damage: are wheels, suspension, body panels or other components missing, damaged or loose?
These are information requests, not instructions to move an unsafe vehicle. Have a qualified person assess a condition you cannot verify safely.
Show Us Where It Is Located
Send current photos of the vehicle and its surroundings. Include its position relative to the street or loading area, any narrow gates, steep driveways, low garage openings and other vehicles blocking access.
Provide the releasing facility’s contact, hours and any available loading assistance. Equipment at an auction or repair shop should not be assumed available until the facility confirms it. Loading and unloading arrangements must work at both ends of the shipment.
Disclose fluid leaks, fire or flood damage, battery concerns and other hazards before a quote is finalized. Such conditions require separate review and may prevent acceptance.
When the Shipment Needs a Different Plan
Locked wheels, missing tires, damaged steering, an inaccessible parking position or incomplete bodywork can put a vehicle outside a standard loading arrangement. Do not book it as an ordinary running car or assume that a winch alone resolves every loading issue.
We review the disclosed condition with suitable transport providers before confirming service. Depending on that review, additional preparation, facility assistance or separately arranged recovery may be necessary. A quote request is not confirmation that the vehicle can be accepted.
From Condition Review to Delivery
Start with a complete description. Send the year, make, model, pickup and delivery locations, vehicle-ready date and answers to the rolling, steering, braking and access questions. Photographs should show the present condition, not just an older sales listing.
Confirm the loading arrangement. Equipment and any facility assistance must be agreed before dispatch. Discuss enclosed transport for a high-value or restored vehicle, but note that an enclosed trailer still has to be suitable for its loading condition.
Report any change before pickup. If a tire goes flat, keys become unavailable, the vehicle is moved or the facility changes its release requirements, notify us promptly. A condition change can affect the equipment, price or timing.
Prepare the receiving location. The destination needs an authorized contact and a workable unloading area for the agreed arrangement. Pickup and delivery dates are estimates, and non-standard handling must be accounted for when planning the handoff.
How the Quote Is Evaluated
The route, vehicle dimensions, operating condition, required equipment, access and availability are reviewed together. A running-car estimate is not an acceptance or price commitment for a non-running shipment. Supply the condition details before comparing quotes.
Non-Running Vehicle Transport Questions
Can you ship a car with a dead battery?
It may be possible after review. Tell us whether the battery issue also affects unlocking, steering, braking or preparing the vehicle for loading. Do not assume the carrier will provide mechanical repairs or make the car operable.
What if the vehicle does not roll or steer?
It needs an individual loading assessment before service can be confirmed. Send photos and the exact condition. Some vehicles or locations cannot be accepted within a standard auto-transport arrangement.
Can a non-running classic car use enclosed transport?
Potentially, when suitable equipment and access are available. Review our Classic & Collector Vehicle Transport service and disclose the car’s current condition, clearance and handling restrictions before booking.
Can you collect an inoperable online purchase?
We can evaluate the move once the seller or facility confirms the condition, release status and loading access. Our online purchase shipping page explains the separate buyer, seller and collection details needed.
