Compare the same shipment
Use this tool after both providers have received the same equipment specifications, operating condition, route, dates and access details. A lower entered total is not evidence that the services are equivalent.
What goes into the comparison
For each provider, enter the quoted transport total and any confirmed required loading, unloading or other costs outside that total. If loading is included in the transport quote, enter zero in the extra loading field. If its price is not known, leave it blank. Do not add a deposit again when it is part of the quoted total.
Formula: quoted transport total + required loading outside the quote + required unloading outside the quote + other confirmed required costs.
Keep possible charges separate
This calculator deliberately excludes uncertain events from its confirmed-cost comparison. Review waiting time, storage, missed appointments, changed equipment condition and rescheduling separately. Ask each provider for the trigger, allowance, rate and approval process. An unresolved required charge makes the comparison incomplete; an optional scenario should not be presented as a certain bill.
Illustration only: Provider A quotes $3,000 with loading included. Provider B quotes $2,800 plus $400 required loading. If every other category is confirmed zero for both, the entered totals are $3,000 and $3,200. These hypothetical amounts illustrate addition, not ETS pricing.
What the number cannot tell you
Check the proposed equipment, pickup window, exclusions, payment terms, assigned carrier process and handling responsibilities. Do not compare a running-machine assumption with a quote that includes nonrunning loading assistance. A broader scope can explain a higher total without either provider being wrong.
