Waiting-Time Cost Calculator
Estimate a waiting-charge scenario using your quoted rate, included time and billing increment.
CONFIDENCE IN EVERY MILE
Estimate one stop’s waiting-charge scenario
Enter total elapsed minutes, the included allowance and the hourly rate from your written quote. Select the applicable billing increment. This calculator performs arithmetic only; it does not determine whether a charge is owed or estimate a standard ETS rate.
Calculate with your own figures
Enter zero for a confirmed zero cost. Leave unknown amounts blank. Entries stay in this page and are not submitted.
How the calculation works
Minutes beyond allowance = maximum of zero and (elapsed time minus included time). Round those minutes upward only if that matches the agreed billing increment. Divide the resulting minutes by 60 and multiply by the hourly rate.
Hypothetical example: 150 elapsed minutes minus 60 included minutes leaves 90 minutes. At a user-entered $100 per hour, exact-minute billing gives $150; rounding to each started hour gives $200. These are illustrative figures, not a rate or free-time policy.
Check the terms before using the result
- When does the clock begin: arrival, appointment time, check-in or another agreed event?
- What time is included, and does the allowance cover loading or unloading?
- Is time prorated or rounded, and is there a minimum charge or cap?
- Who must be notified or approve additional waiting?
- Are pickup and delivery billed separately?
This tool assumes a single hourly rate and the selected rounding rule. It does not handle minimum fees, daily layover charges, tiered rates, caps, taxes or disputed arrival times. Calculate separate stops individually when their allowances differ. A zero result means no modeled time beyond the entered allowance, not a guarantee that no other charge applies.
Keep the quote comparison clear
Keep this conditional scenario separate from the confirmed costs in the Transport Quote Cost Calculator. Discuss access and receiving arrangements through heavy equipment transport.
