Budget for the machine arriving at your site

The winning bid is one part of an equipment purchase. This calculator adds eight buyer-entered cost categories into a planning total. It does not estimate auction fees, tax or transport rates. Start with the auction terms, a written transport quote and the receiving site’s unloading arrangements.

How to enter your costs

  • Purchase: enter your proposed bid before the auction, or the final purchase price afterward.
  • Buyer premium: enter the actual dollar fee calculated under that sale’s terms. Do not assume one percentage applies to every auction or price band.
  • Taxes: use the seller’s estimate or invoice. This tool does not determine tax treatment.
  • Transport: use a quote for the exact machine, condition, route and release window.
  • Loading and unloading: enter only charges outside the purchase or transport amounts already entered.
  • Storage: enter a stated allowance for your planning scenario, or zero when confirmed unnecessary.
  • Other: include separately priced payment, documentation or preparation costs once each.

Read the result correctly

Blank categories remain unknown. A subtotal with unknown items is not an all-in budget. The completed result is still a plan based on your entries, not a guaranteed invoice. If an invoice already bundles several costs, enter the bundled amount once and zero for the categories it covers.

Illustration only: a $40,000 purchase, $2,000 transaction fee, $2,500 transport, $500 unloading and $0 in the other confirmed categories produce a $45,000 total. These are invented arithmetic examples, not market rates or auction terms.

Check the removal deadline before bidding

Ritchie Bros. publishes buyer fees and warns that lots left beyond the removal deadline can incur storage charges. Your auction’s current lot and site terms govern your purchase. See its buyer fee guidance; do not transfer one seller’s terms to another.

Read the costs between winning an auction and receiving the machine and arrange heavy equipment transport before committing to a tight removal window.
