The patient module, rooftop equipment, emergency lighting, cabinets, generator or HVAC components, bumper extensions, suspension, and installed equipment affect dimensions, weight, clearance, and loading.

Prepare the Unit Before Pickup
Remove or secure loose medical supplies, oxygen cylinders, monitors, stretchers, radios, and portable equipment according to the owner’s policies and applicable requirements. Confirm that cabinets, exterior compartments, steps, doors, awnings, and roof-mounted components are closed and secure.
Disclose fluid leaks, damaged suspension, flat tires, collision damage, missing keys, electrical issues, or biohazard concerns before dispatch. The carrier must receive an accurate description of the vehicle’s condition and loading environment.

Trailer or Driveaway Evaluation
Roadworthy ambulances may be evaluated for driveaway service when the vehicle, licensing, insurance, customer requirements, and route allow it. Trailer transport may be appropriate for unregistered, disabled, incomplete, damaged, retired, or condition-sensitive units.
The transport method depends on the complete vehicle height, weight, wheelbase, rear overhang, ground clearance, and loading condition. A commercial van transporter that fits a standard cargo van may not fit a modular ambulance body.

Can you transport a non-running ambulance?
Often, yes. Confirm whether the unit rolls, steers, brakes, has inflated tires, and can be safely accessed for loading.
Should medical equipment remain inside?
Portable medical supplies and sensitive equipment should generally be removed or secured according to the owner’s policies. Tell us what remains in the vehicle before dispatch.
Can multiple ambulances move as one fleet project?
Yes. Provide a unit manifest with VIN, dimensions, condition, location, destination, and release status for each ambulance.
